Hours: 37 per week — Mon–Thu: 08:00–16:00, Fri: 08:00–15:30 (early finish)

About the role
Carmarthenshire County Council is seeking an experienced Workshop Technician (HGV) to support the maintenance and reliability of its Council fleet.

You’ll carry out servicing, inspections, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance across HGVs and specialist bodies, including hydraulic and electrical equipment.

This is a hands-on role within a busy workshop at Trostre Depot.

Key responsibilities
• Service, inspect and maintain HGVs and Council fleet vehicles to required
standards.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical faults on specialist vehicle bodies.
• Complete planned maintenance, safety inspections and defect rectification.
• Accurately record work done, parts used and vehicle status.
• Work safely, complying with workshop procedures and H&S requirements.

About you (essential)
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Light or Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering.
• Full UK driving licence (Category B minimum).
• Proven experience with HGV servicing, diagnostics and repair.
• Competent with hydraulics and vehicle electrics on specialist bodies.
• Strong fault-finding skills and ability to produce accurate maintenance records.

Desirable (nice to have):

HGV Category C licence; IRTEC or manufacturer training; experience preparing vehicles for statutory inspections.
