Marine Electrical Manager Job Description
Position Overview
The Marine Electrical Manager oversees the planning, execution, and completion of electrical operations on marine and offshore engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence, safety, and client satisfaction2.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare specifications for purchasing electrical equipment and materials, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards.
Manage design and construction of HV and LV electrical systems, coordinating defined work packages and client projects.
Supervise and mentor electrical staff and subcontractors, delivering projects on time and within budget2.
Develop and implement electrical testing requirements and methodologies for marine energy and device performance testing.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults in electrical and control circuits, maintaining system reliability.
Interface with clients to address technical issues, provide updates, and ensure prompt resolution of problems identified during testing and operations.
Prepare method statements, safe work practice documentation, and support adherence to the integrated management system and ISO/DNV accreditations.
Monitor inventory, manage procurement, and optimize resource allocation to meet project budgets and timelines.
Qualifications
HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Marine Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in marine electrical engineering roles with proven project management expertise.
Strong knowledge of HV/LV systems, controls, automation, and electrical design software.
Familiarity with maritime quality and safety standards, such as ISO 9001 and DNV certification requirements.
Skills & Competencies
Proficient in technical specification writing, budgeting, and procurement processes.
Expert in fault diagnostics, low-voltage wiring, and control systems, including fiber optics and Cat5 installations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to safety and compliance.
