A Financial Controller is needed to join GT Wings, an ambitious engineering-led CleanTech / MarineTech company developing wind propulsion systems (AirWing) to help commercial shipping cut fuel use, lower emissions and meet global sustainability targets.

GT Wings is in an exciting phase of growth. With our first full-scale AirWing installation completed and more projects in the pipeline, the business is scaling fast, moving from R&D and prototyping into commercial delivery. What sets GT Wings apart is its engineering-led, mission-driven culture: collaborative, agile, and united by a shared goal to decarbonise global shipping.

This new role offers a Financial Controller the chance to build and lead the finance function within a rapidly growing business. Reporting to the CEO, you'll take ownership of day-to-day financial operations, statutory compliance, internal controls and management reporting, while supporting strategic decision-making. You'll also work closely with engineering, operations and commercial teams to provide financial insight on projects, grants, and manufacturing scale-up plans.

You'll be hands-on, detail-focused and comfortable in a fast-changing environment, someone who can shape processes, not just follow them. This is a rare opportunity to join a clean-tech / marine-tech start-up at a formative stage and help lay the financial foundations for long-term success.

Key requirements: You should be a qualified and technically strong finance professional with a CV that demonstrates...

// Qualification in accounting (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
// 3+ years experience in a Financial Controller or senior accounting role, ideally in a growth-stage, engineering, or manufacturing business
// Solid technical accounting knowledge, with experience across management accounts, audits, tax, R&D credits and grant compliance
// Proven ability to implement controls, policies and systems to support scale-up operations
// Strong communication skills and confidence presenting to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
// Proactive mindset, analytical approach and hands-on attitude
// Ideally based in Hampshire or commutable to Southampton HQ for regular in-person collaboration

In return, you'll join a mission-driven organisation at the forefront of maritime decarbonisation, with a competitive salary (£50-60k depending on experience), flexible hybrid working, equity potential, pension and benefits package. Expect a collaborative environment, meaningful responsibility, and the chance to help shape the next chapter of a company making a real difference to the planet.

If you're ready to take the lead on delivering cutting-edge clean technology projects and want to grow your career within a company shaping the future of sustainable shipping, we would love to hear from you.
