We are completing asignificant changeto our organisational structure, as we move to three large clinical divisions across Morecambe Bayandwe areestablishingthisnew role, which will bean important roleinthe CCDE Division.


Thisposition offersafantastic opportunitytobe part of exciting changes at Morecambe Bay. You willbe responsibleforthe deliveryof diagnostic services within CCDE andforredesigning services to meet best practice standards,continually improving the quality of services to patients.


The post holder will work in line with the Trust’s corporateobjectivesand will be expected to make a positive contribution to the provision of health services across the local health economy. The post holder will be expected to work in line with the Trust values and behave in a manner thatfacilitatesthe development of autonomous teams and individuals that are empowered,engagedand committed to continually delivering excellent care with compassion.


You will be a visible leader andprovidedirection to theservicesandheads ofdepartmentwithin theportfolio of the role. You will workin collaboration withclinical leadsto develop the strategy fordiagnostic services,working closely within colleagues in the ICB ontransition tothesingle service for Pathology. You willplay a key role inthe development of our 3 Community Diagnostic Centres, recentlyestablishedin Heysham, Kendal and Barrow. You will be proactive inidentifyingopportunities for clinical innovation and modernisation,andtenacious in thedelivery ofserviceobjectivesandperformance targetsacross all 4 quadrants of People, Quality, Operationaldeliveryand Finance.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
