SEN Teaching Assistant - Year 4 ASD & SEMH Support
Haringey, N8 (commutable from Crouch End, Muswell Hill, Wood Green, Hornsey, Bounds Green)
£105-£115 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, long-term (Full Academic Year)
Long Term Futures is seeking an experienced and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary provision in Haringey. This is a diverse and rewarding role supporting two pupils in Year 4 - one child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and limited verbal communication, and another pupil with ASD and trauma-related emotional needs - as well as providing whole-class SEN support.
This position calls for a confident, proactive individual who can balance structure and empathy, respond calmly under pressure, and work collaboratively within a busy classroom environment.
About the Role
You will play a key role in supporting learning, emotional regulation, and classroom engagement. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support for pupils with ASD and SEMH needs.
- Using visual, sensory, and language-based strategies to aid communication and focus.
- Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour through calm, consistent routines.
- Assisting the class teacher with targeted SEN interventions and whole-class inclusion.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo, and therapists to ensure each child's needs are met.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong experience supporting children with ASD, communication, and emotional needs, ideally in Key Stage 2.
- Calm, adaptable and resilient - a genuine "jack of all trades" who can support wherever needed.
- Confident managing behaviour and responding flexibly to changing classroom dynamics.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and communication-supportive approaches.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with a real passion for inclusion.
Why Work with Long Term Futures?
- Long-term placements offering security, stability, and meaningful impact.
- Weekly pay through a simple digital system.
- Free CPD, including SEN and behaviour management training.
- Dedicated consultant providing personalised support and development.
