About The Role
Are you passionate about solving complex IT challenges and keeping digital infrastructure running smoothly? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where innovation and continuous learning are valued? If so, LiveWest is looking for a Data Networks Engineer to join our dynamic IT team.
In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our infrastructure operations—supporting users, maintaining systems, and helping shape the future of our digital services. You’ll work closely with colleagues across IT, contribute to exciting projects, and play a key role in ensuring our network and systems are secure, efficient, and reliable.
You will also be expected to provide ‘out of hours’ cover and participate in a shift pattern providing support to the business between 7:30am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

- Troubleshooting 2nd / 3rd line faults providing support to colleagues when needed.
- Ownership of support tickets ensuring customers are kept informed on the progress of their issue.
- Liaising with 3rd party suppliers on issues such as faults and diagnostics, supporting the maintenance of networking infrastructure and software.
- Monitoring and advising on capacity planning across all network systems and devices and ensuring the IT inventory is maintained and up to date.
- Resolving issues with infrastructure systems and liaising effectively with affected stakeholders.
- Working with Project teams where there are Infrastructure requirements or dependencies.
- Ensuring that change control process is followed and effectively applied.
- Assist with the development, maintenance and testing of disaster recovery plans.
- Assisting with server operations, backups & storage ensuring systems are effective and well maintained.
- Ensure that systems and solution documentation is provided and maintained.
- Supporting remote sites with connectivity, wifi and infrastructure requirements.

This role is being offered on a full time permanent basis working 37 hours a week. Hybrid working is available for this role working 2 -3 days per week in the Exeter, Tolvaddon or Weston - Super - Mare office, dependant on business needs.

About The Candidate
To be successful in your application for the role of Data Networks Engineer, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level 1 role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:

- Logical and methodical approach to diagnosing and troubleshooting network and WiFi problems.
- Good knowledge of Windows Server operating systems.
- Ability to be proactive in identifying business needs and a can-do approach to meeting them.
- Ability to engage with a variety of people at all levels & with different levels of IT skills & knowledge.
- Ability to handle & prioritise a busy workload, juggling changing priorities.
- Able to cope positively with interruptions & engage with the bigger picture of the IT service
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, particularly listening with the ability to build relationships across different teams/directorates.
- Full, valid driving licence, prepared to travel to alternative sites on a regular basis.


Professional/Vocational/Academic Qualifications:

- ITIL Foundation.
- Desirable: Microsoft Certified.
- Desirable: CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
