Part-time Senior HR Advisor (Group Support Functions)
30 hours per week, minimum of 4 days per week
Hybrid/home with ad hoc travel to meetings/office locations (Hampshire/Midlands/London).
£40,000 – 45,000 per annum (pro-rata) plus up to 15% bonus
As Senior HR Adviser, you’ll deliver an exceptional HR service to a professional Group Support Services (Technology mainly). Reporting directly to a strategic HR Business Partner, you’ll be instrumental in building confidence in HR across the dedicated business area — helping managers lead effectively and driving consistent people practices that are commercially focused, reduce risk and improve performance. This would suit a generalist with strong background in employee relations, including re-structuring.
As part of a large HR team which includes HR Shared Services and Centres of Excellence you will work closely with the HRBP and HR wider team to deliver within your dedicated business area.
What Does this Role do?
Support the HR Business Partner and leaders with business change from design to implementation, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
Work closely with the HR BP and the Change Lead to execute change such as re-structuring and TUPE, including liaising with HR Operations/Payroll to ensure changes are accurate and systems maintained.
Review sickness absence patterns and themes providing reports that hold leaders to account to effectively manage absence and encourage a holistic approach and early intervention.
Review employee engagement survey pulse results and the HR dashboard, ER case trackers to identify trends, influence and inform decisions that drive improvement and impact. Working closely with the HRBP to be proactive and to deliver key strategies / messages.
Identify skills gaps through understanding ER casework themes, talent potential initiatives and succession plans etc use intelligence to inform L&D where gaps exist.
Act as a point of contact for employee relations case work, providing expert advice and coach senior leaders and managers on employee relations matters. Ensuring advice is consistent with policies and employment law, holding them to account for reasonable timescales. Attending hearings and meetings to advise managers on process/potential outcomes. Managing the ER case tracker. Highlighting high risk cases to the HR Business Partner.
Support with developing content and plans to deliver high impact workshops on key policy subjects e.g. managing disciplinary and/or innovative solutions.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Directors, Senior Managers and Team Leads across the dedicated function. Being visible virtually and in person, as required.
Support talent acquisition team, HRBP and leaders to understand future workforce needs.
Support the HR Business Partner with cyclical activity e.g. performance, talent potential, succession planning, wellbeing etc.
Support with developing/delivering our approach to pulse survey results & feedback loops in relation to the employee engagement survey (quarterly).
Support central HR COE initiatives holding leaders to account for job evaluation and benchmarking roles, as required.
Support with communicating central HR initiatives and supporting Graduate programmes and Chartered Management Degree Apprentices.
Collaborating with HR UK and Portugal HR with cross functional activity, as required.
What you’ll bring to the role:
CIPD Level 5 qualified (or working towards).
Proven experience as an ER Adviser with sound ER end to end case management exposure (within professional support services functions and/or tech).
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and best practice.
Confidence in advising various levels (senior leaders and team managers) with handling ER issues, the confidence to coach, challenge and hold managers to account.
Demonstrable experience in change management including re-structuring (TUPE desirable).
HR Generalist experience including exposure to employee engagement pulse surveys and approaches.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in a multi-site and remote/hybrid working environment.
Excel skills, some analytical thinking to identify themes, patterns and present information to inform decisions.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and HR systems.
A proactive, collaborative mindset — able to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload and problem solve.
Ability to think broadly, join dots and bring a service mindset.
Able to drive and travel on an ad-hoc basis, as required.
Some project skills desirable.
