This is an exciting opportunity to join the Acute Medical Unit, this includes an Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and an Acute Medical Assessment (AMA), with opportunities to work in the Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).

We are looking for dedicated Staff Nurses to join our team. Whether you are an experienced nurse looking for your next move, or you are still early in your nursing career, you will find a welcoming and supportive environment here at SATH to encourage you to reach your full potential with the Acute Medical team.
• Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of individualised patient care, working in partnership with patients, their carers and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the patient’s physical, spiritual and emotional needs are met.
• Formulate and deliver high quality patient care without direct supervision, seeking guidance on actions that are outside agreed defined standards.
• Recognise changes in patients’ conditions which require the intervention of others and ensure that timely referrals are made or escalation procedures enacted as appropriate.
• Ensure patient safety is maintained at all times. Record and report adverse and potentially adverse events and assist with investigation of such events, ensuring learning is shared with the wider team(s).
• Record information about patients in a safe, accurate and consistent manner using appropriate tools and techniques, including electronic and written formats as close to point of care as possible.
• Access and use patient clinical diagnostic information to inform clinical decisions.

As a Trust, we are passionate about helping our staff to achieve their career aspirations, and can offer a variety of learning and development opportunities to support your continued professional development. Working with the Transforming Care Institute we can also offer in-house training such as degree/master modules, secondments and acting up opportunities.

We are an organisation that strives to provide high quality, safe care for our patients in an environment which our staff are proud to work in. We believe that by adhering to our Vision (“To provide excellent care for the communities we serve”) and working with our Trust Values in mind (Partnering, Ambitious, Caring, Trusted) we can achieve the right results for the people that matter most – our patients and their families.

Hospital Transformation Programme (HTP)

As part of our long-term vision to improve patient care and service delivery, our Service will relocate to The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in 2028. This move will unite specialist services in a purpose-built, modern environment, enhancing care and team experience.

We are actively recruiting and want applicants to be aware that successful candidates will be expected to move with the Service in early 2028. The relocation will follow a formal management of change process, with full consultation and support for colleagues.

Full details of HTP can be viewed on the Hospital Transformation Programme Webpage
