The Role
The SBC TEC team provides a fully managed TEC equipment service (telecare, telehealth and other assistive technology) to our clients within the Scottish Borders.
We are looking to recruit a Telecare Technician to join our dedicated team to install, service and maintain community alarm systems and associated peripherals in domestic properties. Equipment ranges from personal trigger pendants, heat and smoke detectors to more complex devices to support vulnerable people in their own homes.
The work will include a small amount of drilling and working at heights.
A technician will also use a variety of IT devices for effective programming of equipment. You may also be required to undertake any other duties as requested by the Scottish Borders Council management team.
About You: The successful candidate will demonstrate a caring and patient attitude and understand the importance of providing quality service at all levels as well as being able to work quickly and efficiently in our busy, fast-paced environment.
To be proficient in computer skills is a must with a good level of literacy in Microsoft packages as well as able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills. You must enjoy driving and being out on the road.
A minimum of 1 year’s experience in the installation of electronic devices and a general ability to carry out minor repairs on technical equipment would be beneficial; however, full training will be provided. Additional experience within care work or experience with vulnerable persons would also be advantageous. It is essential that you have a positive can-do attitude and be willing to assist the wider team as and when required, and above all, have a desire to learn and develop your skills with a professional approach at all times.
Please note, interviews for this position will take place on 5th November 2025.

** If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability. Should it be possible to make such an adjustment in order that you can undertake the travel responsibilities of the post, this will be taken into account in consideration for this role
