What the client is looking for:
Our client is seeking an organised and proactive Business Support Team Leader to provide leadership and day-to-day management of a busy support function. The successful candidate will ensure the smooth running of office operations, staff supervision, data management, and preparation for inspections, while also driving improvements in processes and systems across the service.
The role:


Full-time (37 hours per week)
Fixed term – 39 weeks
Hybrid working: 2–3 days per week office-based at Regent Street, Loughborough, with flexibility to work from home on other days
Working hours: Monday–Thursday 8.30 a.m.–5.00 p.m. (1 hour lunch), Friday 8.30 a.m.–4.30 p.m. (1 hour lunch)
Reports to: Senior Business Support Officer

You will line manage a team of Business Support Officers, ensuring effective cover during absences, smooth day-to-day operations, and preparation for Ofsted and other inspections. This is a varied role requiring excellent organisational skills, strong leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
What You’ll Do:


Line manage Business Support Officers, including supervision, absence management, disciplinary matters, and APR reviews.
Prioritise and organise workloads to ensure consistent cover across the service.
Support Business Support Officers in keeping system templates and processes fully updated.
Prepare and plan for Ofsted inspections and other external reviews.
Manage day-to-day office requirements including stationery, equipment, and supplies.
Collect, compile, and present data as required, including supporting with data cleansing.
Organise, develop, and deliver training for staff where necessary, producing guidance notes to support tasks.
Contribute to the development of administrative systems and promote effective use of IT.
Ensure building and security concerns are addressed and reported, maintaining fire alarm and fire drill registers.
Oversee appropriate minute-taking at meetings, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
Manage financial administration tasks such as PCard transactions, Imprest payments, and raising purchase orders.
Support allocation meetings and update the Synergy database accordingly.
Work closely with Team, Partnership, and Family Hub Support Officers.


We are looking for someone with:


Experience of line management, including supervision and staff development.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to ensure consistent cover.
Confidence in preparing for inspections and managing office operations.
Excellent data management and reporting skills.
Ability to design and deliver training for staff.
Strong IT skills and experience improving administrative systems.
Effective communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters.
Experience in financial administration (purchase orders, PCard, payments).
Strong team-working skills with the ability to build positive relationships across services.

Desirable:


Previous experience in a local authority, education, or family support setting.
Knowledge of Synergy (or similar databases).
Experience of supporting services through Ofsted inspections.
Flexibility to travel to other locality offices as required
