About the Role
As a Youth Mentor, you will provide essential support to primary and secondary students with a range of emotional, social, and educational needs.
You will help students build confidence, improve social skills, and reintegrate into education settings. Through building strong relationships, you'll gain a deeper understanding of their day-to-day experiences and offer guidance to support them in engaging with positive activities.
Support is often provided in community venues or residential settings, depending on the individual needs of the student.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide emotional support by listening to and understanding the challenges young people face, including family issues, peer pressure, mental health concerns, and academic stress.
- Help young people develop important life skills, such as problem-solving, decision-making, time management, goal setting, and communication.
- Foster self-esteem and self-worth by offering encouragement and helping students recognise their strengths and talents.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating behaviours, values, and attitudes that encourage young people to emulate.
- Support the reintegration of students into educational settings by addressing behavioural and emotional challenges.
Who We're Looking For:

- Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or complex needs.
