FAMILY ENGAGEMENT OFFICER

Contract Type: Temporary to July 2026, with extension dependent on WG funding
Salary: Grade 5 SCP 11-19 (£28,142- £32,061) Pro Rata
Hours: 15hrs per week 9:00am – 12:00pm, Monday to Friday, 39wks (Term Time Only)
Location: Mount Stuart Primary School, Butetown
Start Date: as soon as possible
Are you passionate about building strong relationships between schools and families? Do you believe in the power of community to support children’s learning and wellbeing? We are looking for a Family Engagement Officer to join our dedicated team and help strengthen the partnership between home and school.
About the Role:
As our Family Engagement Officer, you will:
• Work closely with families to identify and address barriers to learning and attendance
• Provide support, advice, and signposting to relevant services
• Build trusting relationships with parents and carers to encourage active involvement in school life
• Organise workshops, events, and initiatives that promote family engagement
• Collaborate with school staff and external agencies to support pupil wellbeing

• Has experience working with children, families, or in a community support role
• Is approachable, empathetic, and an excellent communicator
• Can work independently and as part of a team
• Understands safeguarding and confidentiality

Under the Education (Wales) Act 2014, all School Learning Support Workers must be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

Requests may only be approved by the relevant Chief Officer or senior nominated officer graded no lower than OM2 or in the case of schools based staff the Headteacher / Governing Body.
