Duties and Responsibilities To work in the SFU under the supervision and instruction of the SFU manager and Dietitians. To follow detailed policies and procedures for the preparation of special feeds. To undertake a training schedule to achieve competence in all areas of the diet service following the written instructions of the dietitian. To make special formulas to a high degree of accuracy, according dietitian prescription (in the EDM 3000), print out the checklist and load prepared feeds onto the delivery trolleys against the checklist. To be responsible for the safe use of equipment in the SFU e.g. electronic scales, dishwashers, blast chiller. Daily temperature record of the fridges, the freezers, and the Blast chiller. To be actively responsible for the stock feeds and equipment in the SFU and Level 4 Milk Kitchen. To help with incoming deliveries of orders and ensure correct storage, stock control and rotation and report any shortages to the manager/dietitian/ Paediatric Clinical Assistant Practitioner. To follow relevant policies and procedures to unsure safe preparation of 24-hour batches of specialist powder formulas and feeds. To provide information to ward staff over the telephone and face to face regarding queries about SFU procedures. To liaise with other hospital departments to ensure the smooth running of the SFU e.g. works department and supplies department. To have a polite and helpful manner when dealing with members of the public and hospital staff who use our services. To assist with daily cleaning duties. To report any hazards in respect of the Health and Safety at Work policy to your manager or ward sister. To demonstrate any aspect of duties and responsibilities to new staff and be involved in training new staff, as directed by the SFU Manager. To perform any other reasonable duties as requested by the SFU Manager. To undertake an annual appraisal and complete an annual Personal Development Plan.
