Are you the right person for the job?
Essential
• Minimum 4 years’ UK accountancy practice experience (essential)
• Strong accounts preparation skills (not just VAT/bookkeeping)
• Good IT skills across Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Familiarity with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or IRIS or similar accounts preparation software
• Ability to multitask, prioritise and work to a tight deadline
• A full driving licence and access to your own car (for occasional client visits, expenses paid)
• To live within 30 minutes’ travel of the office
• Team player with friendly, approachable and positive professional outlook
Desirable but not essential:
• Audit experience
• ACA/ACCA qualifications (not required — experience is key)
What will your role look like?
• Prepare financial statements for a diverse client base, including sole traders, partnerships, and SMEs
• Complete VAT returns and assist with other tax compliance tasks
• Prepare supporting documentation and workpapers for partner review
• Engage in audit activities as required, depending on client needs
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records
• Communicate effectively with clients to address queries and provide advice
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Preparation of business tax and capital allowances computations
• Self-assessment preparation
