• The post holder will join the multi-disciplinary Tier 4 CAMHS Service in delivering mental health care to children, under 13, and their families.
• The postholder will provide specialist Systemic and Family Therapy to the families and caregivers of our service users.
• The post holder will utilise research skills for audit to support policy and service development; and undertake research within the area served by the service and of relevance to young people their families and carers.
• The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures.



To contribute to the development,maintenanceand dissemination of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes in consultation with the post-holder’s professional and service manager(s).


To contribute to the development and articulation of best practice in systemic family therapy across the service, by exercising systemic family therapy skills, taking part in regular professional supervision andappraisalandmaintainingan active engagement with current developments in the field of systemic family therapy and related disciplines.


Tomaintainthe highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry and recording, report writing and the responsible exercise of professional self-governancein accordance withprofessional codes of practice of the Association of Family Therapy and Trust policies and procedures.


Tomaintainup to date knowledge of legislation, national and localpoliciesand issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health.


It is a requirement ofthe post that the post-holder must be Registered with andmaintainprofessional registration with the relevant section of the UKCP at all times. If, in future, the profession becomes regulatedby statute, statutory registration by theappropriate bodywill berequired, replacing this existing requirement.








Welcome to CNWL Mental Health Inpatient Services for Children and Young People. Collingham Child and Family Centre is one of six National 7 Day Inpatient settings, that work in partnership with Chelsea Hospital Schools for children aged under 13 years old.

Nestled between High Street Kensington & Earls Court, Collingham is a Tier 4 Children's Mental Health Unit which provides acute inpatient and schooling for young people with a range of with complex mental health needs and behavioural problems.

At Collingham you will be supporting children and their families to build resilience, better coping strategies and healthy relationships through therapeutic intervention and structured meaningful activity.


To provide specialist systemic family therapy assessmentsfor childrenwho may be experiencing severe,highly complexand persistent mental health problems.


To exercise autonomous professional responsibility forthe formulation and implementation of treatment planstaking into accountrelevantevidence basedresearch, theory,practiceandhighly complexfactors concerning historical and developmental processes which have shaped the child/adolescent, their parents/carers and family.


Toprovide specialist systemic therapeutic treatment for children, their parents/carers and families referred to CAMHS, with severe,highly complexand persistent mental health problems.

To providespecialist systemic advice,guidanceand consultation to professional colleagues within CAMHS and related external agencies who work with children/young people contributing directly to clients’ formulation,diagnosisand treatment plan.

To be responsible forworking within theappropriatesafeguardingandriskguidelines in relation to own cases. This includes reporting to and liaising with multi-disciplinary service and external agency staff (e.g.Social Services staff, CAMHS colleagues, adult mental health staff, primary health and hospital staff, education staff, Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist, named child protection worker).


To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and to provide advice to other professions on aspects of risk assessment and risk management


To coordinate, whereappropriate, the intervention plans in respect of children, taking responsibility forinitiatingplanning and reviews with the young people, theircarers, referring agents and others involved in the network of care.


To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment,formulationand treatment plans of clients under their care, including providing specialist assessment reports as required, and tomonitorand evaluate progressduring the course ofmulti-disciplinary care.

To participatein regular review and ongoing discussion of cases in treatment with other members of the multi-disciplinary team and to provide specialistexpertisein systemic family therapy techniques.To utilise theory,evidence basedliterature and research to supportevidence basedpractice in individual work and work with other team members.


To contribute as an independent clinician to a multidisciplinary team assessments and interventions including medical, social work, nursingteamand other MDT with a focus on team and joint working.
