Hours: 9.00am – 5.30pm – Monday – Friday
Role Purpose
We are working with our client in Trafford Park who are recruiting for an experienced Interim Accounts Assistant to provide hands-on transactional finance support during a period of systems transformation. You will take ownership of day-to-day transactional processes across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, CIS, expenses, and reconciliations, ensuring business-as-usual activities run smoothly while the senior finance team focuses on automation and optimisation projects.

Key Responsibilities
Transactional Finance
Process supplier invoices from designated inboxes, ensuring correct coding and posting to ledgers.
Prepare and execute weekly payment runs.
Raise recharge invoices for vans, fines, and other recoverable costs.
Prepare and issue customer balance invoices; update depreciation records in customer accounts.
CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) (desirable)
Reconcile fitter CIS deductions to the control account.
Input CIS data into the HMRC portal and submit monthly returns on time.
Expenses & Credit Cards
Retrieve, check, and post expense submissions into Syspro.
Prepare weekly expense payment runs.
Process corporate credit card transactions, ensuring accurate coding and posting.
Reconciliations
Complete reconciliations (e.g. petty cash, staff expenses, CIS control) to deadlines.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly, escalating where needed.
Compliance & Process Control
Follow finance process checklists to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes.
Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
General Support
Support the finance team with ad hoc transactional and administrative duties.
Suggest and support improvements to transactional processes.
About You – Skills & Experience
Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant / AP / AR or similar transactional finance role.
Confident in managing end-to-end AP and AR independently.
Working knowledge of accounting systems (Syspro experience an advantage).
Strong Excel skills and good understanding of reconciliations, VAT, and ideally CIS compliance.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent organisational skills.
Able to work under pressure and to deadlines with minimal supervision.
Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused.
