Join Our Specialist Wound Healing Service
Would you like to be part of a dedicated team focused on improving care and treatment outcomes for patients with complex wound needs, while continuing to develop your specialist skills in wound care?
We currently have exciting opportunities within ourWound Healing Service, a specialist team supporting patients withHard to Heal wounds. We work collaboratively with patients to set realistic goals based on their individual healing potential.
What We Offer:
• Delivery ofadvanced wound healing treatmentsin patients’ homes, residential/nursing homes, and clinic settings.
• A varied role working alongsidePractice Nurses, Community Nurses, and Nursing Homes, sharing wound care expertise across the community.
• A supportive, evidence-based environment focused onclinical excellence and patient-centred care.
Role Overview:
• Provide advanced wound healing interventions in a range of settings.
• Actively contribute to the Wound Healing Service as an engaged team member.
• Deliver effective, evidence-based wound care and advice to patients attending the service.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main Duties of the Role – Wound Healing Service
• Provideclinical day-to-day managementof the Wound Healing Service, including assessment of care needs and the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans.
• Ensure the delivery ofhigh-quality, evidence-based careto all patients under the Wound Healing Service.
• Offerongoing supervision, support, and professional developmentto staff within the service.
• Collaborate with other services, organisations, and agencies involved in wound management to ensure integrated care.
• Report patient outcomes and service updates to theClinical Nurse Specialist – Wound Care.
• Work withinmultidisciplinary and integrated teamsto promote best practices in tissue viability.
• Actively encouragepatient involvementin their wound care journey and support the Clinical Nurse Specialist in ensuring the service remains responsive to patient needs.
• Use all forms ofelectronic communicationeffectively to support service delivery and documentation
• Access to a vehicle and a full UK driving licence are essentialfor this role.(Please note: international driving licence is not accepted.)

As a Wound Care Sister within the Wound Healing Service, you will:
• Deliveradvanced wound healing interventionsacross clinic, community, and residential settings, tailored to patient needs.
• Take responsibility for theday-to-day clinical managementof the service, including holistic assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Ensure thehighest standards of careare maintained for all patients under the service.
• Provideongoing supervision, support, and developmentfor staff within the team.
• Liaise with other services, organisations, and agencies involved in wound management to ensure integrated care.
• Communicate patient outcomes and service updates to theClinical Nurse Specialist – Wound Care.
• Promotetissue viability awarenesswithin multidisciplinary teams and encourage patient involvement in their care.
• Makedirect referrals to vascular surgeons, supported by the Clinical Nurse Specialist.
• Makeindependent clinical decisionsand initiate treatments for complex wounds, includingTopical Negative Pressure TherapyandMaggot Therapy.
• Facilitate comprehensive, documented assessments and develop individualised care plans.
• Apply a range of wound dressings and compression bandages with skill and precision.
• Use electronic systems effectively for documentation, communication, and data reporting.
• Support learners and visitors to the clinic and act as nurse-in-charge in the absence of the Wound Care Sister.
• Participate inclinical governance, audits, and evaluation of new wound care products.
• Maintain awareness ofcurrent best practices and innovationsin wound care.
Physical & Emotional Demands
• Requireshighly developed physical skillsfor dressing application, manual handling, and working in confined spaces.
• Must manageemotional situations, such as end-of-life wound care or non-healing wounds.
• Daily use ofVDUs and electronic systemsfor patient records and communication
