Job Purpose

Conduct testing on incoming materials in the Quality Control (QC) laboratory to ensure timely completion, compliance with internal QC standards, adherence to company deadlines, and maintenance of external accreditation.

About the Role
The success of our business is built on the quality and accuracy of our formulated products. As a Quality Control Technician, you will play a vital role in testing road marking and road safety products, ensuring compliance with established Quality Standards. Your responsibilities will include approving or rejecting materials, products, and laboratory results, ensuring that all outputs meet the necessary quality, safety, and efficacy requirements. You will also uphold strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practice and Manufacturing Practices, as well as Safety, Health, and Environmental (EHS) guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
• Adhere to site safety standards and always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Collect and test raw material samples for compliance with relevant Work Instructions and Quality Plans.
• Prepare and test finished products against established Quality Plans and Work Instructions.
• Release final products within the designated system and maintain the electronic material status file.
• Follow all procedures and perform required checks and tests in a timely manner.
• Collect and file Certificates of Compliance and Certificates of Assurance from suppliers and issue Certificates of Compliance for finished goods.
• Assist in preparations for external audits and support auditors during the process.
• Conduct internal calibration of test equipment and maintain accurate calibration records.
• Maintain full and precise documentation of test results for raw materials and finished products.
• Generate Certificates of Compliance (C of C) and Certificates of Assurance (C of A) for finished goods upon request.
• Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment, adhering to the highest EHS standards.
• Manage laboratory consumables, including ordering stock and obtaining quotes for new or replacement equipment.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of improved quality control measurement systems.
• Conduct monthly EHS audits.

Performance Measures
• Timely testing and release of materials.
• Prevention of non-compliant materials reaching customers.
• Successful accreditation and compliance with external auditing bodies.
• Proper maintenance and calibration of equipment, minimizing downtime.
• Safe and well-maintained laboratory environment.

Person Specification

Knowledge
Essential:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
• Understanding of standard Work Instructions and UNI/EN/British Standards.
• Experience with laboratory work, including physical testing.
• Ability to perform analytical work.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety principles.
Desirable:
• Experience working in a testing facility within the road marking/surfacing industry.
• Previous experience in coatings or formulated products manufacturing with a focus on quality assurance.

• Previous experience in a structured laboratory setting.
• Practical chemistry laboratory experience.

• Understanding of EHS principles.
Desirable:
• Experience in the coatings/paints industry, particularly in formulation development and quality control.

Qualifications
• Minimum A-Level (or equivalent) in Chemistry.
