The Endoscopy Coordinator role provides an invaluable patient focused service, working within the clinical units of the hospital. The main responsibilities will be processing internal referrals and bookings, managing the endoscopy waitlist in line with National Cancer Waits times, dealing with patient queries and providing a high quality administration service at a leading Cancer Centre which prides itself on clinical excellence The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and experienced, who enjoys patient contact and working in a multi-disciplinary environment to support the delivery of a quality service. You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, reliability and have an organised approach to work. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop your administrative skills in a fast moving and dynamic department within the NHS. Substantial experience working as an administrator in a relevant medical setting is required for this post. Excellent Microsoft office skills and knowledge of medical terminology are essential. • The principal role of the endoscopy administrator is to work collaboratively with other administrative staff to deliver an efficient, welcoming reception service, whilst managing other essential duties.
• Lead in the reception of patients to the Endoscopy Suite while being supported by the rest of the Endoscopy Team.
• Ensure efficient administration of all aspects of patient referral, admissions, discharge and bookings in Endoscopy in liaison with endoscopy suite ward nursing staff.
• To maintain a booking system for admission and discharge of Endoscopy patients to the ward/department/home.
• Manage the waiting list system to support the management team in delivering the endoscopy service within mandated timeframe and rules, in accordance with current best practice
• To run lists on a daily basis for outstanding histopathology reporting, print off these reports and ensure that they are made available for consultant review
• To be actively involved in the management of the Trust EPR and Endobase systems to ensure that patient records are accurate.

• Patient/customer care (both direct and indirect)
• Reception of patients
• Carry out tasks in delivering and supporting indirect patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
• Ensure efficient administration of all aspects of patient admission to hospital is carried out in liaison with the senior nursing staff in Endoscopy.
• To ensure that patients receive written/verbal communication in advance of admission to hospital with special emphasis on client care.
• Ensure that in event of patient admission being subject to cancellation, that it is handled appropriately and sensitively.
• To be involved in the preparation of patient discharge, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team. Where necessary ensuring transport arrangements are in place for the patient/client.
• Maintenance of all computerised patient administration systems
