Family Support Worker - Exploitation
Job description
37 hours per week

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, young people, and families? Bridgend County Borough Council is leading the way with innovative, unitive "Edge of Care" services, focusing on early intervention to keep families together and provide robust support when it's needed most. We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker (x2) to join our Exploitation team and help shape the future of family support.
Why Bridgend?
Bridgend's Edge of Care services provide pioneering, whole-family support aimed at preventing children from entering the care system. As part of our Exploitation team, you'll take a person-centred approach to work with children, young people, and their families, delivering responsive and flexible support to foster safety, well-being, and long-term resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver tailored, evidence-based interventions to children, young people, parents and carers to reduce risk associated with exploitation.
Work intensively with families using trauma-informed, strengths-based, and motivational approaches to increase protective factors.
Build trusting relationships with young people who may be hard to engage, ensuring their voice and lived experience informs the work.
Engage parents/carers to build capacity and understanding of exploitation, supporting family-led safety planning.
Provide assertive outreach to reduce harm, including community-based work, school visits, and partnership liaison.
Work collaboratively within a co-located, multi-agency exploitation service and with wider partners such as education, youth justice, police, and health
Engage with service users through morning, evening, and weekend work as needed.
Use a contextual safeguarding approach to assess and respond to extra-familial risks.
Respond to crisis situations calmly and effectively, including escalating safeguarding concerns
