A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.


The Trust is seeking a specialty doctor on a 1 year fixed term contract to join the Central Manchester Home Based Treatment Team. The postholder will have an opportunity to contribute to the delivery and development of the team.



The post holder will work alongside a 1.0 WTE Consultant colleague. There is also support from a Pharmacist and a Pharmacy technician for the team. There is a GP trainee and a Foundation Year doctor to provide support to the team in addition to the post holder. There are another two GP trainees who each attend 2 days a week. The average case load of Central HBTT is around 70-100. Rates of referrals vary but are usually between 8-20 admissions to the Team each week.

This a full-time appointment for a Specialty Doctor. Successful candidates will be working with a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultant psychiatrist, foundation/GP doctors in training, advance nurse practitioners, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and support workers.

· Attend MDT, conduct reviews, and create management plans for patients on the HBTT case load. It also includes chairing MDTs and making decisions about patient care in the absence of the consultant, seeking advice from covering consultant when appropriate.

· Complete, review and authorize treatment plans and discharge summaries as required.

· MHA work including preparation of tribunal reports and presenting evidence at the tribunal hearings.

· Assess and manage physical health for patients on the HBTT caseloiad.

· Participate in leading clinical decision making in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.



· Be involved in developing service clinical priorities in line with national and professional guidance and standards.



· Be involved in clinical governance related activities such as audits and quality improvement projects. Educational roles:



· Provide supervision and support to doctors in training working with the team.

· Provide teaching to medical students and doctors in training working in the trust.
