Your new company
My client is a leading global multi-disciplinary consultancy with over 5,000 professionals. They specialise in all areas of the built and natural environment, helping shape the future of environmental, social, and economic landscapes. From resolving bat issues in individual homes to delivering ecological surveys for large-scale commercial developments and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), my client provides comprehensive ecological consultancy services to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Your new role
As an Ecologist, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of ecological services across a wide range of projects throughout the UK. Your role will involve conducting field surveys for protected species and habitats, including but not limited to bats, great crested newts, reptiles, birds, badgers, and dormice. You'll use a variety of survey techniques and equipment, and ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
You'll contribute to the preparation of ecological assessments, mitigation plans, and technical reports to support planning applications and ensure compliance with UK wildlife legislation and policy. Your work will help inform design decisions, reduce ecological impacts, and support biodiversity enhancements.
You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planners, engineers, and environmental specialists, and may be involved in stakeholder engagement and client liaison. Depending on your experience, you may also support or lead junior staff, contribute to project management, and assist with tender preparation.
This role offers a mix of fieldwork and office-based tasks, with opportunities to work on a variety of projects-from small-scale developments to nationally significant infrastructure schemes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and experience working as an Ecologist in consultancy.
- Membership with CIEEM (Graduate, Associate, or Full) is preferred but not essential.
- Experience conducting ecological surveys, particularly for great crested newts and bats, and ideally tree climbing skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
- A current CSCS card is desirable (CSCS certification can be provided for the right candidate).
What you'll get in return
- Competitive Salaries, depending on the role: £26,500 - £55,000
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays
- Option to purchase up to 5 extra days annually
- Company pension scheme
- Group Disability Scheme
- Share Incentive Scheme
- Life Assurance
- Cycle to Work Scheme
- Health Screening
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Dental Cover
- Professional Memberships
- Access to BenefitHub with discounts, cashback offers, and rewards
