Crynodeb
The post is suitable for doctors aiming to apply for FY1 applicants. Successful candidate will have full support by their teams and supervisors, so they can gain the appropriate experience and knowledge, in elective and emergency surgery, and progress into the next step of their careers. It provides a great opportunity for hands on operative experience working with highly experienced consultants. Watford General Hospital is a busy district general hospital, with Greater London, with a significant number of emergency and elective cases. There will be exposure to major vascular, colo-rectal and upper GI cases as well as major breast cancer surgery. The team structures are firm-based which benefits continuity of care, and provides an excellent training environment. The successful candidate is expected to perform audits and help with undergoing research within the department. This will help them to improve their CV by participating in national and international conferences and by publishing in peer review journals. The full educational program will be discussed and adjusted at the beginning of the placement to meet the post takers training needs. Study leave can also be provided facilitate this.
