Neway have a vacancy for a Cleaning Operative to join our client based with Southwark Council
Location: Unit 2 Sandgate Street, Southwark
️ Duration: 1st October – 24th December 2025 (extended after review)
⏰ Hours: 36 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8am–3pm
Pay: £15.39 PAYE / £19.96 Umbrella
Southwark Council is seeking a hardworking and reliable Cleaning Operative to support estate and street cleaning across designated areas in the borough. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining cleanliness, safety, and hygiene in both internal and external environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Clean corridors, stairwells, lobbies, refuse stores, lifts, and external walkways
Sweep, mop, scrub, and wash surfaces using appropriate equipment and materials
Empty litter bins and rotate paladin refuse stores
Remove bulk and bagged refuse from estates
Perform litter picking, leaf clearing, and snow clearing as needed
Respond to major spillages and maintain high standards of cleanliness
Requirements:
Experience in manual cleaning or estate maintenance preferred
Ability to work independently and follow health & safety procedures
Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor work in all weather conditions
Commitment to maintaining public spaces to a high standard
