The RSPB brings people together who love birds and wildlife, and who want to take action to restore the health and diversity of the natural world.We are looking for a strategic and analytical Merchandising Manager to join our Commercial team.The successful candidate will bring their expertise and be responsible for business planning, driving efficiencies and maximising net profit, which goes back into supporting the RSPB.Key Areas of Responsibility:Assortment planning and buying:The driving force behind a well-balanced and commercially viable product range, that aligns the brand’s vision and financial objectives.Perform thorough data analysis, to pinpoint opportunities and risk.Collaborate with product development teams to identify focus areas, to deliver the greatest benefits.Formulate the right assortment structure for each season and channelEstablish and monitor KPIs such as sell through rates, gross margin and SKU performance.Responsible for setting topline targets, which inform channel budgets.Help facilitate the seasonal range review process.Oversee the buying process, from sign-off, quantifying by channel to purchase order, delivery and allocation.Leadership and Collaboration:This pivotal role bridges and cultivates excellent relationships between Merchandising, Product Development (buying), Retail, Ecomm, 3rd party Trade and Fulfilment.Provide cohesive and clear communication, presenting complex data into actionable insights for different audiences, from senior leadership to customer-facing teams.Lead, mentor and develop a high performing team. Foster a culture of analytical excellence, dynamism and creativity.Strategic implementation - translate vision into actionable plans and ensure successful execution.Margin and inventory management:Devise the promotional calendar, ensure its smooth implementation and report on its effectivenessIn partnership with product development (buying) shape pricing strategyManage product lifecycle- launch, continuity replenishment and exit strategiesWork with fulfilment for optimum inventory flow and margin improvementsClose working relationship with Finance, modelling and feeding into the P&LTransformation and innovation:Support Head of Buying and Merchandising, providing performance insights Challenge the status quo and establish new ways of workingCultivate expectations for continuous improvement, supporting teams through changeRecommend sourcing strategiesEssential knowledge, skills and experience: Demonstrable Merchandising experience, with a track record of delivering growth and profitability. Proven success in inventory planning and improving merchandising operations in an omni-channel setting. Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive business decisions. Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills. Strong leadership and team management skills.
