Job Title: Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA)
Location: Horley, Surrey
Contract Type: Full-Time, 8:30 until 4:30 (Term Time Only)
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications


Your new role

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs? Do you have the empathy, resilience, and creativity to make a real difference in their lives?We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) to join our specialist SEMH provision in Horley. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with pupils who require tailored emotional support to thrive both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted emotional literacy interventions to individuals and small groups
  • Support pupils in developing self-esteem, emotional regulation, and social skills
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
  • Monitor and evaluate progress, maintaining accurate records of interventions
  • Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive school environment



What you'll need to succeed

  • ELSA training (or willingness to undertake training)
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEMH or SEN setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A calm, patient and flexible approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
