Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled genetic counsellor or specialist nurse with experience in Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions to implement the sudden cardiac death pathway, providing leadership and organisation to the multidisciplinary teams involved.

Your role will be focused on improving the quality of the SCD pathway working closely with professionals in the network as well as patients and their families.

Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalizing your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHSwe’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.

At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognizing that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.

As the Sudden Cardiac Death Coordinator your main roles and responsibilities will be to:
a) To provide a dedicated Inherited Cardiovascular Conditions (ICC) liaison for the coronial service for all patients and their families affected with sudden cardiac death (SCD).
b) To support individuals and families dealing with sudden cardiac death and any associated genetic disorder, including explaining complex medical facts, including the diagnosis, probable course of the disorder, and the available management. Enabling clients to choose the course of actions which seems most appropriate to them.
c) To work with local coroners to provide information and educational materials, and act as a significant educational resource to the wider health care system, and the public.

Specific to this role is the suitability for agile working which is a mixture of on-site and remote working. In addition, we are open to discussing flexibility in the hours that you work. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you need, and we will explore what’s possible for the role and service.
