Healthcare Assistant Mercheford House Surgery March, Cambridgeshire Hours: Wednesday PM, Thursday all day, Friday all day Job Summary A vacancy has arisen in our busy GP practice in the market town of March, Cambs for a part-time Healthcare Assistant. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our friendly team. We pride ourselves on teamwork and offer a high standard of support and guidance to all our staff. The successful candidate will provide support to our Clinical Team, assisting with a wide range of patient care and clinical duties. Applicants will need to be flexible, reliable, and have excellent organisational and communication skills. About the Role As a Healthcare Assistant, you will undertake delegated clinical and administrative duties under indirect supervision. You will be an important member of the practice team, working within clear parameters and after appropriate training and competency assessment. Key Responsibilities Phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs Administering selected vaccines in line with the national schedule and legal authorisation Administering medications by injection (with appropriate authorisation) Undertaking NHS Health Checks Chaperoning and assisting patients during examinations Processing and managing laboratory samples Maintaining and cleaning clinical equipment and treatment rooms Accurate clinical record keeping using SystmOne and Ardens templates Supporting administrative systems in the practice Signposting patients to relevant services or organisations Attending practice meetings and completing mandatory training About You We are looking for someone who is professional, compassionate, and committed to providing excellent patient care. Essential: Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant (general practice, hospital or community setting) Competence in phlebotomy NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) English and Maths GCSE grade C/4 or above Desirable: NVQ Level 3 qualification Basic IT skills Additional Information You must be committed to patient confidentiality, equality and diversity, and safeguarding. This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
