We’re excited to launch The College Kitchen at Sandwell College – a brand new café service proudly serving Starbucks drinks to students, staff and visitors. As a Barista, you’ll be at the heart of this exciting venture, helping to create a vibrant and welcoming hub on campus. You’ll be preparing top-quality coffee and drinks, serving customers with a smile and keeping everything running smoothly day to day. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same from perfecting a latte to keeping the counter well-stocked and ready for the busy college rush. This is a fixed-term, hourly paid role during the term time only, running until the Easter half term.Key Responsibilities:Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold drinks to a consistently high standard.
Offer a warm and friendly service to all customers.
Take orders, handle payments and operate the till accurately.
Keep the café clean, tidy and well-presented at all times.
Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations.
Assist with deliveries, stock rotation and restocking supplies.
Support your colleagues during busy periods to ensure smooth service.
Provide ad-hoc catering support for events and functions when required.
Promote specials, seasonal drinks and loyalty schemes.Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:To succeed in this role, you should hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above and have a good understanding of current food hygiene and health and safety requirements. Experience in catering or hospitality, combined with strong communication and interpersonal skills, will help you thrive in a fast-paced environment.
