Start Date: 07 November 2025

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Shop Supervisor to join our team at our busy retail store, which also includes a Post Office counter. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shop floor, supporting the team, delivering excellent customer service, and ensuring smooth and compliant operation of Post Office services.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and a background in retail, who is also confident in working in a regulated environment like the Post Office.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Shop Duties
• Supervise daily operations on the shop floor, including opening and closing duties.
• Lead and motivate a small team of shop assistants.
• Monitoring legal and safety compliance to manage and avoid operational problems and uphold shop standards, including cash management and stock control.
• Handle customer queries and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
• Ensure the store remains clean, organised, and welcoming at all times.
• Monitor sales and assist with promotional displays.
• Complete cashing-up procedures and ensure accurate handling of money.
Post Office Duties
• Oversee and support the delivery of Post Office services including mail handling, bill payments, banking transactions, and identity verification services.
• Ensure compliance with Post Office procedures and security regulations.
• Assist or cover the Post Office counter when trained and authorised.
• Support Post Office audits and reporting requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure customer data is handled confidentially.

What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience in retail, ideally in a supervisory role.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• High attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy store environment.
• A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and team management.
• Willingness to undertake Post Office training and compliance checks (if not already trained).

Desirable (but not essential)
• Previous experience working in a Post Office or in a regulated customer service role.
• Knowledge of cash handling, security procedures, and health & safety in a retail environment.
