The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established precision engineering business based in Willenhall who are looking for a Tooling Team Leader to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced toolmaker or engineer with leadership skills to take ownership of a busy tooling department, leading a team and driving improvements in quality, delivery, and efficiency.

The Role
As Tooling Team Leader, you will:

• Lead, supervise, and support a team of toolmakers, machinists, and apprentices.
• Plan and allocate workloads to ensure projects and production schedules are met.
• Oversee tooling design, manufacture, maintenance, and repair activities.
• Act as a technical point of contact for the production and engineering teams.
• Drive continuous improvement within tooling operations, focusing on efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Monitor performance and provide training and coaching to develop team skills.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and quality standards.
• Liaise with management and other departments to align tooling activities with business objectives.


The Candidate
We're looking for someone who has:

• Strong background in tooling, toolmaking, or precision engineering.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Excellent technical knowledge of tooling processes and CNC/manual machining.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• A hands-on approach, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop others.


Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in Toolmaking or Precision Engineering (essential).
• NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering (preferred).
• Leadership or management training (desirable).
