This is an exciting time to come on board. We’re developing and improving our service, creating opportunities for fresh ideas and new ways of working. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in delivering excellent housing services while helping to drive continuous improvement and enhanced customer satisfaction.
Why this role matters
As a Maintenance Inspector, you’ll ensure our homes and estates are safe, well maintained, and good value for money. You’ll be the link between our residents, contractors, and colleagues — making sure repairs and improvements are carried out on time, to standard, and with care.
What you’ll be doing
Carrying out property inspections and surveys to identify repairs, specify works, and make sure everything is completed to a high standard.
Diagnosing maintenance issues and defects, providing accurate costs, and working with the Senior Maintenance Inspector on complex case
Overseeing contractors to ensure their work meets targets for quality, timeliness, and value for money.
Taking ownership of repairs, keeping residents updated, and ensuring excellent communication throughout.
Undertaking estate inspections and proactively managing the condition of our stock, not just reactively.
Recording accurate notes and updates on our housing database and ensuring all works are procured in line with Council policies.
Why join us?
This isn’t just about maintaining properties — it’s about building trust, improving communities, and delivering a service residents can be proud of. You’ll be part of a supportive, collaborative team that values passion, innovation, and professionalism. With the chance to influence service improvements and bring your own ideas to the table, you’ll find this role both challenging and rewarding.
If you’re motivated, organised, and ready to take ownership of your work, we’d love to hear from you. For more information or an informal discussion about this role, please contact Adam Reid, Responsive Repairs and Voids Manager, adam.reid@thanet.gov.uk.
Due to the nature of the role the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check as part of their pre-employment checks.
