The Opportunity
ARC Logistics is partnering with a leading UK poultry producer to find a highly committed and professional HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver to join their specialist live haul team. This is a critical role that ensures the ethical and timely movement of livestock, requiring specific expertise and a dedication to animal welfare standards.

Key Responsibilities
As a Live Bird Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and welfare-focused transport of live poultry. Your duties will include:
Specialist Driving: Operating articulated vehicles (C+E) fitted with specialist live-haul cages/modules between regional farms and the processing facility.

Animal Welfare Compliance: Strictly adhering to the "Welfare of Animals during Transport" regulations. This includes monitoring the livestock environment, ensuring secure loading, and minimising stress during transit.
•
Flexible Scheduling: Working to flexible, often unsocial hours. Night shifts, early morning starts, and compulsory weekend work are standard requirements for this industry.
•
Loading Assistance: Working closely with the farm team to ensure the efficient and humane loading and securing of the live bird modules onto the trailer.
•
Biosecurity & Hygiene: Following rigorous biosecurity and cleaning protocols before entering and after leaving farm sites to prevent cross-contamination.
•
Administrative Duties: Accurately completing all legal and company documentation, including digital tachograph records, pre-departure checks (daily walkarounds), and movement permits.
Essential Requirements
To be successful in this specialist role, you must meet the following criteria:
•
Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driving Licence (minimum 2 years’ experience preferred).
•
In-date Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
•
Current and valid Live Bird Transport/Handler Certificate (or demonstrable experience in live haulage with a willingness to undertake certification immediately upon starting).
•
Demonstrated commitment to safety and animal welfare.
•
Reliability and flexibility to work variable shift patterns, including nights, and weekends.
•
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a small team during the loading process.
