About the Role
Please note, this is a part-time role (22.2 hours, 0.6 FTE)
Leeds City College are seeking a part-time Pastoral Coach who has the personality, skills and knowledge to support and nurture our student body, with a view to enrich the learning experience and promote positive outcomes.
The School of Travel, Food, and Drink offers a wide range of study programmes and apprenticeship opportunities to both 16-18 and 19+ learners who are looking to pursue a career in Hospitality, Catering, Aviation and Travel/Tourism. Our course offers range from Entry Level 3, for learners who may be applying to college with limited previous experience of qualifications through to Level 3 Diploma programmes of study which enable students to progress to higher education or supervisory positions within industry. The team have an extensive range of skills, knowledge and experience from their specialist industry backgrounds which is invaluable to the teaching, learning and assessment process.
What You Will Do
Plan and deliver pastoral lessons within the PDBA framework.
Support the Curriculum, Maths and English team to ensure attendance is a priority
Give academic support, extra encouragement, mentoring and pastoral support to all students inside and outside of the classroom.
Undertake the role of a designated safeguarding officer ( following training).
Work with teaching staff to support the achievement of excellent outcomes for each student.
Support teaching staff where individual student behaviour within a group is impacting on the learning of the group as a whole.
Assist in the induction of the students into the curriculum and college life.
Develop a 1:1 relationship with individual students, meeting regularly to review progress against the action plan.
Support staff on visits and off-site activities.
About You
Experience of working with students, particularly age 16+.
Experience of working with schools, parents, and external support agencies.
Have a good knowledge of behaviour management techniques.
Experience of student-centred approaches to learning and different styles.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Good organisational and administrative skills.
Able to work positively & effectively as a member of a team and on own initiative.
