To assist in clinic to support clinicians to ensure clinics are running effectively and provide quality care for our patients To present self to patients, visitors in a pleasant and professional manner Have full understanding of the patient's optimum level of mobility and to assist with movement of patients through different care settings Assist patients where necessary to achieve physical comfort The support and monitoring of patients throughout, enabling them to address their own health and wellbeing as far as it is possible for them to do so To aid patient during their time in outpatients, demonstrating awareness of each individuals privacy. Respecting peoples dignity, wishes and beliefs, involving them in shared decision making, and obtaining their consent, within the constraints of Trust policy, for care to be undertaken. Contribute the day to day running of the department and support the needs of the patient journey. Support and monitoring of patients throughout, enabling them to address their own health and wellbeing as far as it is possible for them to do so Undertake observations in clinic and chaperone where needed. Obtains clinical samples such as urine, skin swabs Ensure clinic paperwork is completed correctly Removal of wound dressings and application of simple replacement dressings Applications of prescribed topical treatments under the direction of a trained Nurse or Doctor Set up minor theatre and assist during minor procedures, overseeing Junior staff in theatre, including: Completion of WHO skin surgery checklist Application of simple post operative wound dressings Removal of simple skin closures Promptly alerting the relevant person when there are unexpected changes or identified risks to individuals health and wellbeing Taking appropriate action to address any issues or risks Reviewing the effectiveness of specific clinical interventions and care activities as they proceed and in conjunction with a registered practitioner, make any necessary modifications Preparation of the patient / client for clinical interventions Preparation of equipment Knowledge, Skills & Experience Act consistently with legislation, policies, procedures and other quality approaches and encourage others to do so Work within the limits of own competence, levels of responsibility and accountability in the work team and organisation Work in partnership with the all members of the multidisciplinary team as an effective and responsible team member Prioritise own workload and organise own work to meet priorities and reduce risks to quality-of-service delivery Use and maintain resources efficiently and effectively and encourage others to do so Monitor the quality of work in own area and alert others to quality issues. At all, times ensure that own actions support and promote equality, diversity and the rights of patients / clients, the public and colleagues within the healthcare environment. Contribute to and participate in the development of a culture that is committed to innovation and quality improvement. To develop the knowledge of specific physical, emotional, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual needs of the service users and carers. Communication Communicate with a range of people on a range of matters, in a form that is appropriate to them and the situation, to ensure that their individual needs are met. These may include: patients / clients and their carers or significant others multidisciplinary team members other staff within and external to the organisation Improve the effectiveness of communication through the development and appropriate use of communication skills Constructively manage barriers to effective communication Keep accurate and complete records consistent with legislation, policies and procedures Communicate in a manner that is consistent with relevant legislation, policies and procedures Education & Training Undertake all Trust mandatory training and annual updates Develop and maintain own knowledge, skills and competences through the use of competency frameworks and continuous professional development Participate in staff meetings, clinical supervision and any other identified training Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of learning opportunities and alert others to benefits and problem Keep up-to-date records of own development review process Act as a role model to junior colleagues.
