We are seeking a highly motivated qualified Advanced Critical Care Practitioner (ACCP) to support the ongoing growth of TGICFT ACCP programme. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of Critical Care clinical practice and training, working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will support the ongoing design and development of an innovative clinical ACCP service. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a commitment to working across traditional critical care boundaries and should be an experienced clinical practitioner. It is anticipated that the post holder will work 80% clinically complimenting the Specialty Doctor roster. This clinical role includes long days and weekends. There is a 20% non-clinical commitment where they will be supported to develop their own professional clinical portfolio and academic skills.

Candidates must hold FICM ACCP Membership and have completed the full MSc in Advanced Critical Care Practice (or equivalent).



Advanced Critical Care Practitioners work as part of the consultant led multidisciplinaryCriticalCareserviceat TGICFT.Theywillberesponsibleforahigh-standard of patient care, using skills set out in the National Education and Competence Framework for Advanced Critical Care Practitioners and the FICM curriculum for a Postgraduate qualification in Advanced Critical Care Practice.

· To have current Critical Care clinical expertise to provide comprehensive, holistic assessmentsofthecriticallyillregardlessoflocationso thatclinical decision-making leads to prompt, appropriate actions in the best interests of the patient.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills so that professional advice or care guidanceandinstructionsarewell understoodbypatients,theirrelativesand/orcarers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team; using verbal and non-verbal skills to effect improved management of the critically ill.

· ToworkcompetentlyintheroleofAdvancedCritical CarePractitioner,beingawareof the boundaries of the role, referring patients appropriately to other healthcare professionals as required.

· Prescribingasanon-medicalprescriberandadministeringanappropriaterangeof drugs by enteral, parenteral and other routes as required.

· Toassistwithtracheostomy managementinCritical Careandwardareas,initiatingand managing tube changes and de-cannulation.

· Toassessandretrievepatientsrequiringcriticalcarefromwardareas.

· Toundertakeintra- andinter-hospital transferofthecriticallyillintheabsenceofa medical practitioner according to agreed protocols as appropriate.
