About Our Teams

System Engineering and Investment
This team combines techno economic modelling expertise with power system and investment engineering to manage growth related capital investment across a projects lifecycle. You will undertake system analysis to specify requirements and inform engineering designs, act as the technical interface for customers connecting to our network and ensure network models and software are accurate and reliable.

  • Base locations: Glasgow, Perth

  • Degrees: Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy

Transmission Network Control
The Transmission Network Centre is at the heart of SSEN Transmission. This team plans, prepares, and manages safety and system security across the network, ensuring upgrades, reinforcements, and maintenance can be carried out safely. You will provide operational technical expertise, support world first engineering projects such as the Caithness Moray HVDC link, and work across the industry to influence codes and technical guidance for the Net Zero transition.

  • Base locations: Perth

  • Degrees: Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering

  • Security requirement: Candidates must obtain SC level vetting through the UK Government (normally 5 years UK residency). More information can be found here: United Kingdom Security Vetting

What do I need to join?

You will need a minimum of a 2:2 bachelors degree in one of the relevant disciplines listed above.

We are looking for graduates with practical experience that reflects a passion for the energy sector and the ability to work effectively in a team. You should be comfortable setting and achieving ambitious targets, using your own initiative to overcome challenges, and have a genuine interest in SSEN Transmission with the prospect of a long term career with us.

We want you to feel confident about what happens next in our recruitment process, which has three stages: Online Testing, Video Interview, and an In-Person Assessment Centre.

  • If your application meets the minimum criteria, well invite you to complete an online test.

  • If youre successful, well be in touch by Monday 10 November 2025 with an invitation to complete an online video interview. 

  • Our Hiring Managers will carefully review all video interviews, and if you make it through, well contact you by Wednesday 10 December 2025 with an invite to attend our Assessment Day expected to take place January/February 2026. Well need you to confirm your attendance by Sunday 4 January 2026.
