The successful candidates will have significant surgical experience and will join a skilled and enthusiastic team providing a full range of out-patient oral surgical treatment. Experience of treatment under conscious sedation will be of advantage.

The successful candidates will be expected to offer flexibility in sessions to be worked to support the needs of the service.

The post-holder will be encouraged to be involved in all departmental activities, including undergraduate and postgraduate supervision and training, the monthly teaching and training afternoons and the further development of appropriate departmental audits and outcome measures.

Clinical duties within the Oral Surgery Department and Primary Care Unit involve the outpatient and day case care of patients at the Birmingham Dental Hospital, as directed by the Consultant in charge of the Department or their nominated deputy. The post holder is clinically and managerially responsible to the Head of Service in Oral Surgery.

The timetable includes commitments to surgical activity utilising local anaesthesia, sedation and general anaesthetic techniques. Discharge of clinical duties will be in accordance with Trust Policies and Procedures.

So far as is consistent with proper discharge of the above duties the post holder undertakes to deputise for absent colleagues as directed by the Head of Service.
