Crynodeb
To carry out the full range of portering duties within the endoscopy department; Prioritise own and others workload; Responsible for safe transportation of patient between wards/ endoscopy; Responsible for safe collection/delivery of scopes, specimens and pharmacy as required and according to the Trust policies; To move items of furniture/ equipment within the hospital on an ad hoc basis depending of the availability of equipment to allow safe environment; Movement of full or empty gas cylinders, including CO2 between endoscopic rooms and storage areas and change full for empty cylinders when required; Ensure linen and clinical and confidential waste is currently disposed as per local policy; Ensure patient dignity is protected all the times; In case of emergency, responsibility for collection and transfer of blood and blood products in accordance with Trust policy; Moving and handling of patients including safe transfer and positioning training will be provided; Maintain effective communication links through the correct use of bleep and telephone systems using correct terminology and politeness; When carrying bleeps respond as soon as possible to requests; Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times; Undertake relevant training as required (initial and ongoing), including annual appraisal with a personal development plan. Training of new staff in the department when required; Observe all departmental policies/ procedures and safe-working practices at all times; Responsible for cleaning/ checking of wheelchairs/trolleys as necessary;
