Crynodeb

Change Grow Live is a charity driven by the belief that we can make a meaningful difference in people's lives. We provide compassionate, person-centred support in a safe and inclusive environment, respecting and valuing each individual. We work collaboratively to support people in accessing the right treatment and care options, helping them achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.

We are looking for a Bilingual Recovery Coordinator to join our outreach and engagement team in our vibrant Newham service.

In this role, you’ll work across our three hubs and within the community, partnering with various agencies to provide tailored support for individuals facing substance use challenges, particularly those with additional barriers such as homelessness, language needs, or no recourse to public funds (NRPF).

As part of a borough with unique demographics, we are particularly seeking a bilingual candidate who speaks at least one of the following languages: Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, Latvian, or Ukrainian. Your language skills will help us connect with individuals who might otherwise face barriers to accessing support.

This is an opportunity to bring your compassion, energy, and dedication to a role where you can make a real difference. Every day, you’ll contribute to creating a space where people feel supported, understood, and empowered to grow.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in supporting individuals as they navigate their recovery journey. Whether you’re using your lived experience, professional skills, or both, you’ll help people find their strengths, overcome challenges, and create meaningful change in their lives.

Building Trust and Supporting Recovery: You’ll be there from the very first contact, guiding individuals through assessments, planning, and onward referrals, ensuring they receive the support they need.
Creating Safe and Engaging Spaces: You’ll deliver workshops and group sessions on topics like managing emotions, improving sleep, and building healthy relationships, adapting your approach to meet individual needs.
Promoting Growth and Independence: You’ll encourage resilience, peer connections, and self-determination, empowering individuals to lead purposeful, fulfilling lives.
Reducing Harm and Fostering Integration: You’ll help reduce the risks associated with substance use and support people in reconnecting with their communities.
Championing Advocacy and Access: You’ll advocate for individuals to access services and resources, ensuring no barriers stand in their way.
Contributing to Meaningful Activities: You’ll help design, deliver, and evaluate group activities that are creative, impactful, and tailored to those you support.

About you:
Lived Experience or Understanding of Substance Use Challenges: Your personal journey or understanding of substance use and recovery gives you a unique perspective and ability to empathise with those you support.
Bilingual Communication Skills: Fluency in at least one of the following languages—Polish, Lithuanian, Russian, Latvian, or Ukrainian—allows you to connect with individuals in a meaningful and inclusive way, building trust and breaking down barriers.
A Desire to Lead and Inspire: If you’re not experienced in facilitating groups yet, you’re eager to learn. You are confident in building connections, engaging others, and handling challenges with empathy and professionalism.
Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: You are a great listener, a clear communicator, and comfortable learning new IT skills to enhance your work.
Proactive and Eager to Learn: You bring energy and initiative, ready to develop your skills, manage your time effectively, and embrace challenges with a positive outlook.
Awareness of Mental Health and Recovery: Whether through experience or curiosity, you’re passionate about understanding mental health and the journey to recovery, and you’re ready to expand your knowledge in these areas.
Team-Oriented and Collaborative: You work well with others, valuing the strengths of diverse teams and building strong relationships with professionals, stakeholders, and the community.
A Commitment to Making a Difference: You understand the importance of safeguarding and confidentiality and are eager to grow, improve, and contribute to the success of the team and the people we support.
