An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Pharmacist - Specialist Surgery to join our dedicated Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals.
This role will see you working alongside the Lead Pharmacist - General Surgery to to lead on the clinical pharmacy service to this area.
We are looking for a pharmacist with a proven track record in hospital pharmacy or equivalent experience. You'll possess excellent clinical knowledge, strong communication skills and the ability to influence and lead. Crucially you'll be passionate about continuous improvement and eager to contribute to the development of pharmacy services.

The successful candidate will work at a senior level within the service and play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills. The combination of responsibilities will significantly facilitate your growth in both the clinical and leadership aspect of this role.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote clinical and cost-effective prescribing through evidence based guidelines. The post holder will develop, audit and monitor Medicines Management processes within the service and provide training and supervision to departmental staff.
In addition to well-developed communication and leadership skills you will have previous experience of working within a clinical environment and will have completed a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy. Evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork would be advantageous.
Training and support will be provided. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential. It is envisaged that the candidate will possess a prescribing qualification or be prepared to work towards one.
The Pharmacy Department at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is a large department (over 150 staff) and a friendly environment with established senior support. We are dedicated to education and professional development and encourage/support ongoing education. We have a very favourable oncall commitment, that all pharmacists in the department contribute to.

The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac, Haematology and Cystic fibrosis patients.
