About the role
An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and dedicated receptionist to join the professional services team at the University of Plymouth’s Faculty of Health, responsible for supporting students throughout the student journey.
As our receptionist, you will be responsible for greeting visitors and providing assistance in person, over the phone, and via email. You will efficiently manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including sorting emails and promptly responding to inquiries. Additionally, you will handle scheduling appointments and meetings. Assisting with data entry and record-keeping when needed will contribute to the seamless functioning of our office. Furthermore, you'll support the administrative team by tackling ad-hoc tasks and projects with enthusiasm and efficiency.

What we’re looking for
We are looking for candidates with previous experience in a receptionist or administrative assistant role, although it's not mandatory. Excellent communication skills paired with a friendly and professional demeanor are essential to the success in this position. Strong organisational abilities, coupled with the capacity to multitask and prioritise effectively are key. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, are required. You should be comfortable working both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment will be key attributes for this role.
You will:
• Have experience operating effectively as a member of an administrative team within a customer service environment
• Have a flexible and resilient attitude in an ever-changing and challenging environment will be vital
• Have organisation skills, excellent IT skills (including spreadsheets and databases), the ability to be pragmatic and proactively solution-focused to seek resolutions to problems and the ability to work within tight deadlines
• Have good communication skills, minute taking, teamwork and data reporting are also essential
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for 8 months to cover a period of maternity leave.
The working pattern will be 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday - Thursday and 8.30am - 4.00pm on Friday, which are the office opening hours.
The role will be based at the student-facing Faculty Office in the Portland Square building of the main University Campus, although occasionally travel to other sites may be required.
