Overview

The Exams department play a pivotal role in the learner journey and experience at Reaseheath College. Supporting assessments across Further Education, Higher Education and Apprenticeships, the exams department are responsible for coordinating a wide range of awarding bodies to ensure the smooth running of the examinations in line with the College examination policies and procedures. This is a fast paced and demanding department with competing priorities across the whole academic year.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Exams Officer to join a dynamic and busy team who, working closely with academic and support staff, seek to maximise the use and development of our student record system.

The purpose of the role is to support the Examinations Manager with the preparation of college exams as well as motivating the exams team to deliver examination materials and resources accurately and efficiently. The main responsibility of the Exams Officer is to oversee the maintenance and development of the exam module system, the administration and organisation of exams (ensuring compliance) and to contribute to the smooth running of examinations across the College.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within an exams environment, in particular from a secondary or further education sector. They will be able to work to tight deadlines, with high volumes of data and have a keen eye for detail.

Key responsibilities:

  • Maintain and coordinate the exam module software to maximise functionality across all aspects of exams
  • Ensure compliance with all College and awarding body examination policies
  • Act as the Exams Team deputy, serving as the main point of contact for all exam related queries in the absence of the Exams Manager
  • Support with the preparation of large-scale exam events to ensure they are conducted in-line with awarding body regulations
  • Work effectively across all areas of the College to ensure students have a positive exams experience

    The successful candidate will have:

    • An appropriate Level 3 qualification or relevant exams experience
    • Level 2 Maths & English or equivalent (Grade 4 or GCSE Grade C)
    • A strong administrative background
    • Confidence using IT MIS software, MS Office and handling large quantities of data
    • Proven organisational skills, accurate attention to detail and excellent communication skills

        Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment.
