An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Urology Nurse Secretary to work with a team of Urology Nurse Specialists who work across Northern Care Alliance.
You should be ableto use their own initiative and able to carry out audio typing whilst having an awareness of medical terminology. The role will also include assisting the Nurse Specialists with the management of patient pathways, this will include entering data on to Trust systems, dealing with patient phone calls and liaising with community teams/GP practices as required.
• Deal with telephone communications and type letters with a potentially distressing or emotional content
• Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that any further actions/appointments are requested following transcription of clinical correspondence
• The post holder will provide medical transcription and administrative support to the Urology CNS Team; guided by standard operating procedures
• Provide non-clinical advice and information to patients/clients/relatives, exercising judgement when dealing with enquiries, analysing and resolving appointment/admission schedule issues
• Carry out administrative instructions that are dictated in the letters transcribed to include booking appointments and admissions via the Booking and Scheduling Department
• Bring to the attention of the Urology Nurse Specialists any investigations, results that are pending and require action or inclusion in the NPSA 16 Investigations Tracking Systems, following transcription of clinical correspondence
• Assist colleagues with transcription outputs
• Undertake routine office duties including electronic case note tracking, photocopying, faxing/emailing and filing of correspondence and results and maintenance of records when required
• Ensure patients receive accurate and authorised information in accordance with local and national guidelines
