An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Community Phlebotomy Manager Band 6 within NELFT

· The postholder will provide overall day to day management and running of the phlebotomy service , both clinic-based and domiciliary services in Basildon, Brentwood, and Thurrock ,developing and transforming the phlebotomy service as required.

· The post holder will consistently deliver a client-focused service which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.

· To work with own line managers in conjunction with other stakeholders, to ensure targets are reached.

· Will monitor progress of investment projects and business case investments providing updates and reports as necessary

· Will provide line management to direct supports and will be directly responsible for the leadership and management of the phlebotomy service across South West Essex

· The post holder will support their peers to be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively support and liaise with other health and social care professionals and agencies.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend several drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period.

High Cost Area Supplement - Fringe

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £1,303 to a maximum of £2,198 p.a. pro rata for part time).

· To be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day to day allocation of work.

· To deputise when required for Operational Lead absence.

· To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them.

· To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.

· To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing and controlling risk and ensuring residual risks are added to the Trust register.

· To employ professional curiosity in your day-to-day role and act upon any findings appropriately.

· To manage business continuity and effectiveness of services

· To provide advice and information and represent phlebotomy services at relevant meetings

· To lead service development/transformation, including new opportunities for investment and QI projects

· To report regularly to the Operational Lead on compliance/non-compliance of standards.

· To ensure safe staffing level in the service via Health rostering, leave and effective attendance management

· To monitor waits and delays in service and report any issues to the Operational Lead.

· To manage recruitment, selection and retention.

· To manage induction of permanent and temporary staff for Phlebotomy

· To manage the phlebotomy budget within the financial envelope.

· To manage staff within the Phlebotomy services in accordance with HR policies.

· To consistently deliver a ‘client-focused’ service, which promotes good customer service and effective working relationships.

· To be responsible for obtaining quotes for equipment and authorising all purchases and invoices for the service
• To perform any other tasks commensurate with the grade of the post and in line with the requirement of the post.

· Lead on the transformation, of the phlebotomy service as required in line with new initiatives both locally , across the MSECC and nationally,sustaining this transformation and ensuring modern practices

· Responsibility for day to day management/supervision of the Phlebotomy team.
