The Data Assurance and Protection Manager will develop and manage the Information Governance and Information Quality Assurance agendas for the Trust, ensuring that any action plans, policies and procedures are fully implemented. The post holder will manage Data Protection, Caldicott Principles, confidentiality, Information legislation requests (FOI, SAR, police or other public bodies).

This role is pivotal in ensuring the Trust's digital assurance and data protection frameworks are robust, compliant, and aligned with strategic goals, ultimately supporting the organisation in the delivery of high-quality mental health services. The post holder will provide specialised knowledge and expert advice across all aspects to patients, members of the public and staff of all levels in the organisation.



The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing the performance of the teams and monitoring the quality of the service to maximise the effectiveness of the available resources.

The Digital Assurance services are supporting the mental health Trust and its partnerships with academic, local authority, and voluntary sector partners. The Data Assurance and Protection Manager will actively participate in national and regional health and social care initiatives, promoting the Trust’s expertise and ensuring compliance with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act (2018), and other relevant legislation.

The post holder will lead and manage digital assurance teams in the delivery and management of the digital assurance function that is fit to support the vision and digital aspirations of a mental health trust, to empower service users, support clinicians, enable research, improve productivity, and support organisational performance with digital tools, technology and best use of data.

Promote the maximum and effective utilisation of clinical and corporate data for the benefit of service users and the greater good of the public in line with relevant legislation, health and social care standards, ethical principles.

Support better use of information assets through engagement and support of Information Asset Owners/Assistants, that will enhance treatment and care options with better outcomes for service users, flexible and efficient professional practice for staff, compliant and lawful clinical and corporate operations for the Trust.

Support the digital assurance team to continuously improve services promoting safe innovation, developing staff and setting objectives to ensure that services are provided to agreed scope and quality targets within available financial resources.

Help create a vision for the future of IG in the Trust and key partnerships, clearly and enthusiastically communicate it, together with supportive objectives and operational plans.
