We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Decontamination Support Worker to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for the safe and specialised decontamination of flexible endoscope devices, ensuring the highest standards are maintained to guarantee patient safety and quality care.

A level 3 in Health and Social Care is also an essential requirement for our external candidates.

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team and play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality patient care. In this role, you will perform a full range of decontamination duties, with particular emphasis on the cleaning and sterilisation of flexible endoscope devices. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety, consistently working to the highest standards and ensuring that every aspect of your work reflects best practice.
Collaboration is at the heart of this role, and you will work closely with registered nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), following their guidance and support to provide seamless, effective care. You will communicate clearly and professionally, documenting all decontamination activities in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintaining excellent standards of hygiene and safety will be central to your responsibilities, with strict adherence to established protocols at all times. In addition, you will contribute to the ongoing development of care standards and best practices through training opportunities and full compliance with safety regulations.

Duties to include, but not be limited to:
• Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
• Be able to work within the flexibility of the theatres, ie working days, evenings, nights & weekends
• Undertake clinical duties relevant to the clinical area following achievement of competencies
• Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
• Contribute to maintaining safe, clean and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
• Maintain and develop own competence in accordance with Trust and local policy.
• Communicate and document information in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and report outcome to line manager.
