Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Salary: £44,235 per annum
Annual Leave: 42 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period)
As our Head of Institute, you will to support the Assistant Principal and the Executive Team to provide high quality management, leadership and guidance across the curriculum and to provide an excellent learning experience which ensures high achievement for all students, through exemplary practice in learning, teaching and assessment.

Responsibilities of our Head of Institute:
Provide day to day line management and support of all staff within the department.
Manage the delivery and future development of the curriculum offer, in conjunction with the Assistant Principal, including the development of new provision in conjunction with other Heads of Institutes responsible for different subjects and provision types.
Liaise with the central Planning and Timetabling Office to ensure the efficient timetabling of courses and the coordination of staffing, including cover for sickness and other absence.
Work with Outstanding Practitioners and staff to lead on improvements to the quality of teaching, learning and assessment and the motivation of staff by conducting performance reviews, probationary assessments and other staff performance processes to ensure that individual staff teaching and learning action plans are addressed, improvements are achieved and are reflected within the PDR process.
Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of published information for provision within the department and assist in the arrangement and implementation of curriculum marketing and associated events in conjunction with the Head of Marketing.
Accountable for ensuring that staff record data and information in an accurate and timely manner, including registers, withdrawals, transfers, assessments, examination results and student progress.
Delivery of high quality, learner focused education for an average of 3 hours each week (108 hours per year).
Represent the College at internal and external meetings, working with a range of stakeholders including weekend and evening events.
Accountable for ensuring that staff within the department take responsibility for leading, supporting and coordinating course activities, and for taking internal verification responsibilities
Responsible for financial management, including the effective management of budgets for the department as agreed with the Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal and Finance Director.
What we’re looking for in our Head of Institute:
Revelant teaching qualification and subject specialism
Significant experience of delievering good teaching and leading in further eduction.
Experience of leading on cross-cutting themes such as student engagment, progess, assessment and IQA processes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyse data and use it to drive improvements.
Strong organisiational and planning skills.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
