SCOPE OF ROLE:
Working within a warehouse team, under the guidance and direction of the Warehouse Operations and Senior Managers, to achieve the daily requirements and targets of a busy warehouse operation. Our warehouse operatives are multiskilled and expected to work across all areas of the warehouse and, as a Driver you would be part of that team. Whilst you will be required to drive between our warehouses and Head Office in Peterborough there will also be a requirement to drive to our stores across the UK from time to time, which may include overnight stays. When not needed to drive then you will support the warehouse team within Goods In and Despatch and also on the core elements of picking and packing. Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will achieve daily and weekly set targets in all given tasks in a safe, efficient and timely manner whilst adhering to our standards of conduct and quality at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to the given instructions and requirements of health & safety to ensure that yourself and colleagues remain safe at all times. Promptly reporting any accidents, incidents and near misses for investigation and improved safety.
Maintain safe driving standards at all time both on public highways and onsite
Understand and utilize the warehouse management system (through handheld scanners and computers) to carry out tasks and ensure that the accuracy of the stock management and order systems are maintained.
Raise issues, concerns and opportunities for improvement through the appropriate channels in a way that encourages a quick resolution.
Take adequate care and responsibility for equipment, goods and information and maintaining housekeeping and hygiene of the working environment.
FUNCTIONS OF ROLE:
Driving
Using company owned or hired goods vehicles transport stock, waste and company assets between sites. Driving safely and in adherence to the laws and safe driving requirements, and keeping the vehicle clean and tidy
Loading and unloading goods vehicles adhering to safe working practices at all times
Report missing, broken or misplaced items when necessary
Dealing politely and courteously with team members and suppliers
Picking
Using baskets and cages to gather the goods for multiple customer or store orders at a time. Ensuring that all available stock is collected to fulfil the order
Follow a pre-determined pick path to collect & scan single items and multi packs of clothing, outerwear, underwear and footwear
Report missing or misplaced items when necessary
Picking involves walking long distances, manual handling of products and cages and the ability to use ladders to retrieve items from higher locations
Putaway
Using baskets, boxes and cages to move & place goods into picking locations
Scanning items and allocating a location ensuring that the information matches the physical and system location to enable correct picking
Placing boxes and single items of clothing, outerwear, underwear and footwear onto shelves, into racking and into random box locations
Putaway involves walking long distances, manual handling of products and cages and the ability to use ladders to place items into higher locations
Other warehouse functions of Goods In, Customer refunds, preparing stock for new store openings, PI functions and the coordination of equipment and people may be required from time to time. These elements of the role will generally be trained for the multiskilling of warehouse operatives who have successfully demonstrated that they are fully proficient and achieving the required standards of quality and efficiency in the core elements of the role.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Attention to detail
Ability to communicate achievement and concerns with Managers.
Ability to work with colleagues (understanding that for some employees, English will not be a first language)
Ability to meet the pace and physical demands of a busy warehouse role
Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
Experience in a driving or warehouse role
Category C Driving Licence with a maximum of 3 penalty points
Positive attitude
Hardworking and able to use own initiative
Proven ability to work well under pressure
Ability to follow given instructions
Proven record of good attendance and flexibility
Great time management
Able to work on own or with a team
