Associate Pastor (Minister of Religion)

Job Purpose
Summary of Role (Associate Pastor / Minister of Religion)
The Associate Pastor will support the local Pastor in providing spiritual leadership, preaching, and teaching in line with Pentecostal doctrine. The role involves leading worship services, evangelism, and pastoral care for members of the congregation and wider community. The Associate Pastor will disciple believers, nurture spiritual growth, and encourage the operation of biblical spiritual gifts. They will also assist in officiating Christian ordinances and represent the church in community and interdenominational events.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Preach, teach Bible studies, and lead Pentecostal worship services, including prayer meetings, altar calls, and Holy Spirit-led ministry.
• Perform ordinances such as baptisms, baby dedications, Communion, weddings, and funerals.
• Provide pastoral care and counselling, including premarital guidance, crisis support, deliverance ministry, and discipleship.
• Lead evangelism, community outreaches, mission trips, and street ministry to spread the gospel and disciple new believers.
• Encourage and nurture spiritual gifts (prophecy, tongues, intercession, healing) within biblical teaching, revivals, and prayer gatherings.
• Mentor and support church members in spiritual growth through discipleship, teaching, and prayer.
• Support the growth and spiritual development of ministry leaders, prayer teams, and worship leaders.
• Assist the local pastor in ministerial assignments and spiritual vision.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
• Must be born again and filled with the Holy Spirit.
• Must have the fruits mentioned in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:7-9.
• Must be organised, self-motivated, compassionate, a team player and have good written/verbal communication skills.
• A committed Christian with a clear calling to full-time Pentecostal ministry.
• Degree-level qualification.
• At least 1 year of proven experience in evangelism or pastoral ministry.
• Ordained or recognised as a minister with authority to preach and teach within the Pentecostal tradition.
• Sound knowledge of the Bible and Pentecostal theology.
• Proven preaching, teaching, and exegetical skills.
• Experience of ministering effectively within African and Afro-Caribbean communities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in ministry.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required.
• Must undergo a DBS check and safeguarding training.
Desirable Requirements
• Previous experience in a similar pastoral or evangelistic role.
• Recognisable gifting in teaching and discipleship.
• Demonstrated ability to lead effective outreach strategies.
Terms and Conditions
• Salary: £21,000 - £22,500
• Contract: Permanent
• Hours: 35 hours per week
• Probation: 6 months
• Leave entitlement: 25 Days

• Schedule: Monday to Friday, Weekend availability
